Angling Club for the local Athy area since 1959

What we do

Maintenance

The club maintains the swims and pegs for the local Athy area, including:

  • Match stretch on the Grand Canal

  • Match streth on the River Barrow

  • The Marina club grounds

  • Match stretch at Levitstown

Matches

The club organizes and runs monthly matches across the year, open primarily to members. All upcoming matches are listed here, as well as on the clubs Facebook page. To learn more about becoming a member, please visit our membership page!

Help & Support

All club members can get help and advice from the club on areas to fish, tactics for the current season and which methods do best in each area.

Protecting our Local Waterways

The club works closely with Irish Waterways and An Garda Siochana to ensure local waters are protected from poaching, littering and destruction. The match stretch of the Grand Canal as well as The Marina club grounds operate a strict catch-and-release policy.

Building Community

Athy and District Anglers Club welcomes all anglers. Members often share tips and advice with fellow members on where to fish, what baits to use and what species to target. Pictures of personal bests are never far behind! The sport of Angling brings people together and this is an important aspect for the club.

Who We Are

The club is made up of committees and roles which look after different aspects of running the club. These are:

  • Chairperson

  • Vice Chairperson

  • Treasurer

  • Match Organizer(s)

  • Course Committee
