Athy Anglers Charity Match Sponsored By Vivado

Athy Anglers will be running a charity match in aid of Willow Community Counselling Services on Saturday 29th July. All proceeds from the entry fee to the match will be donated to Willow to support their vitally important community work.

Athy & District Anglers Club are delighted to partner with Vivado for sponsorship of this match. All prizes on the day will be provided by Vivado, and we are very greatful for their support for such an important cause! Check out their great range of angling supplies on their website.

Willow offer free, self referential counselling to any in need in the Athy & greater Kildare areas. Due to an annual funding deficit, they are at risk of having to cease operations through to the end of the year. We are trying to do what little we can to help them keep things running, and continuing to provide the crucial mental health support services we so often lack in Ireland.

For this match, we will have the entire stretch of our Grand Canal match stretch open, so 24 anglers can come and show their support!

Athy & District Anglers Club Martin Hughes memorial course match. This match is currently fully booked with 16 anglers!

Winter League Match 4

Our 4th Match of the Athy & District Anglers winter league is booked for Sunday 11th December. Venue will be the river Barrow now that high water levels have subsided and we managed to get in to clean out the pegs.

There will be no fishing the match stretch of the river by Pettits and the Castle on Saturday 10th or Sunday 11th to accomodate the match. Signs will be posted to the same effect.

Draw will be 8:45am in Shaw’s car park. Fishing from 10:15 till 14:45.

It’s going to be a proper cold one! Make sure to bring your thermals :)

Winter League Match 3

Our third match of the Athy & District Anglers Club Winter League is taking place on Sunday 13th November on The Marina club grounds.

With the river Barrow currently in flood and no sign of the rains letting up we can expect some good stocks of fish to be seeking shelter in The Marina. Here’s hoping this will lead to another good days fishing and some strong weights contending for top spot!

Match Details

Meeting in the Marina at 8:30am, pegs to be drawn at 8:45pm. Fishing will be from 10:00 to 15:30. We’ve added an extra 30 minutes to this match to give our winter league anglers a chance to bag up that little bit more!

The Marina will be closed Saturday and Sunday to facilitate the match, cooperation of all members is appreciated on this.

Cleaning, Committee Meeting

Club Meeting & Cleaning

There will be a club committee meeting on Sunday 6th of November held in The Marina club grounds. This is expected to last 30 minutes and will be for committee members only.

After this we will be cleaning additional swims in The Marina for further upcoming matches, all members are welcome to come and participate in this cleaning effort! Find out more about getting involved with the club on our Getting Involved page.
